3Arts Awards

| December 29, 2017 | Parties National

THE PARTY Guests arrived at The Mid-America Club ready to celebrate a decade of the 3Arts Awards—the signature event for 3Arts, a nonprofit organization advocating for Chicago’s female artists, artists of color and artists with disabilities. The focus of the evening was the gifting of $25,000 unrestricted grants to 10 Chicago artists. THE PEOPLE Attendees enjoyed performances by bassist Tatsu Aoki, Chicago blues guitarist Lurrie Bell and songwriter Jess Godwin, all past recipients of the 3Arts Award. Ginger Lane, a prolific choreographer and dancer, was the recipient of the special 3Arts Community Award. THE PINNACLE With the spirit of giving in the air, attendees moved to the afterparty space. DJ Sadie performed while the collective group of artists enjoyed slices of the three-tiered cake that featured depictions of waves—a nod to the impact that 3Arts believes each artist will make with their grant. -Sarah Julien
