THE PARTY The opening night of the 47th Chicago International Film Festival THE HIGHLIGHTS On October 6th, the 47th Chicago International Film Festival opened with The Last Rites of Joe May, which showcased performance from Chicago’s longtime theater actor, Dennis Farina. Celebrated indie director and writer of the film Joe Maggio walked the red carpet with Farina, Gary Cole, Jamie Anne Allman, Chelcie Ross, and Ian Barford. Guests gathered at Harris Theater for the screening of the film, with presentation by award-winning journalist Bill Kurtis. THE BOTTOM LINE Going on until October 20th, the Chicago International Film Festival will have presented more than 180 films from 50 countries, including over 45 films by newcomers. The Festival started in 1964 by Michael Kutza, who also walked the red carpet. Every year, the festival dedicates itself to making positive contributions as well as bringing different cultures together.
