5 Lovely Lunches

The feast is on! From dazzling debuts to dishes we crave, the North Shore's dining scene is tastier than ever.

1 Di Pescara
Shopping makes us hungry, and Di Pescara not only has entree-size salads (who could resist the seafood chopped salad?); it also has sushi (a good bet in a restaurant known for its impeccable seafood), sandwiches and beautiful antipasti like grilled artichokes or the roasted cherry tomatoes and burrata. Northbrook Court Mall, Northbrook

2 English Room
We would happily book a room at Deer Path Inn if that was necessary to ensure a spot for lunch in the Courtyard patio on a sunny day. The shrimp and lobster sandwich will make you wonder if your room is in, perhaps, Maine. 255 E. Illinois Road, Lake Forest

3 Convito Café & Market
With a lovely patio and terrific light options for lunch, Convito is always bustling. A huge plus is that the market offers wonderful prepared foods, so you’d be crazy to not also pick something up for dinner. Bonus! 1515 Sheridan Road, Wilmette

4 Guildhall
Light-filled dining areas, and a menu that ranges from salmon tartare to a reuben sandwich, mean Guildhall fills a much-needed place in Glencoe's daytime dining options. Our go-to order is the grilled Faroe Island salmon salad, but fans of the eponymous salad will argue for its supremacy. A glass of rosé wouldn’t be out of place here, and we won’t tell if you linger for dessert. 694 Vernon Ave., Glencoe

5 Market House On The Square
The swanky Lake Forest crowd makes sure this farm-to-table restaurant is always packed. On a nice day, come early if you want to sit on the shady and pleasant patio. Your party will obviously share the burrata (made by local cheesemonger Caputo) served on rustic bread with marinated tomatoes and broccoli pesto. 655 Forest Ave., Lake Forest
