In the May 1998 issue of Chicago Social, then-Managing Editor Royaa G. Silver published “A Shopper’s Guide to Vacationing in the City of Angels.” She somehow managed to overnight in both the regal Beverly Wilshire (you know—the one from Pretty Woman) and the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills between tearing it up along Rodeo Drive. She made it sound like a blast—luxurious travel, beautifully curated. It’s fitting that superb destinations (and journeys) have been a part of this magazine since its earliest days. We go to spectacular places and try to take you with us, as with this captivating photo from 2008, of the spa pool at Hacienda Puerta Campeche, in the Yucatán Peninsula.
