What is something you constantly strive for?
As a venue, we strive to create seamless wedding days for our couples from start to finish while also making them feel connected to the city that makes their wedding day so special!
What is your proudest achievement?
Our Special Events team has won The Knot’s Best of Weddings Award every year since 2007! This is such a favorable achievement because our couples are the reason that we win this award every year. Without their positive reviews and recommendations, we would not be where we are today as an organization. It fills our hearts with pride when our clients share their special moments at the Chicago History Museum with other newly engaged couples!
What big news do you want to share?
In October of 2021, the Chicago History Museum unveiled the renovation of its outdoor, educational trail and outdoor plaza. The outdoor plaza, which is used for couple’s outdoor ceremonies and cocktail hours, sits directly above the museum’s archival collection in the basement. What many couples don’t know is that they are getting married on top of some of Chicago’s most precious, historical artifacts! The new plaza holds new ornamental trees and two pergolas that sit on each side of the plaza. Surrounding the plaza is also the new history trail that incorporates existing features, like the Chicago Fire Relic and the Couch Tomb!
Tell us what makes your business stand out?
The Chicago Historical Society is Chicago’s oldest cultural institution, founded in 1856 and incorporated in 1857 by an act of legislature. The original Chicago Historical Society building was burned during the Great Chicago Fire of 1871 and the current Chicago History Museum building was built in 1932. Our business is built on Chicago History and we pride ourselves on being a big part of Chicago’s Historical background. We have the opportunity to connect our guests with the city that makes their events so memorable!
