Acting Up

| July 1, 2013 | Parties

THE PARTY More than 600 of Chicago’s business and civic leaders put on their party hats to support Steppenwolf’s stellar efforts to promote the arts. Notable attendees included Steppenwolf co-founder Terry Kinney, Gary Sinise, Liz and Eric Lefkofsky, Deputy Mayor Steve Koch, Ellen Alberding, Mary Dempsey and Laurie Metcalf. THE SCENE Guests gathered at Steppenwolf for a Champagne reception and a performance of scenes from the world premiere production of Head of Passes before strolling down the street to Blackhawk on Halsted for cocktails and a lavish dinner by Limelight Catering. A fast-paced live auction featured covetable lots, such as a private dinner cooked by Top Chef alum Stephanie Izard, a luxury suite at a Cubs home game, and tickets to the Broadway premiere of Of Mice and Men, starring James Franco. Post-auction revelers enjoyed a night of music and dancing. THE HIGHLIGHTS The gala raised $1.1 million for Steppenwolf’s artistic, educational and community programming.
