Adventures in Wonderland

| October 31, 2012 | Parties

The Party With an Alice in Wonderland theme, nearly 3,000 attendees fell down the rabbit hole at Office Max’s Green Tie Ball XXI, held at A. Finkl & Sons. Chicago Gateway Green’s annual fundraiser has become a must-attend event, and this year’s party raised $450,000. Co-chairs Corri McFadden and Donald Storino welcomed guests to enjoy Real Russian Vodka cocktails, Goose Island beer and food from 70 restaurants—25 Degrees, Public House, III Forks, Rosebud and more—around tables with Alice in Wonderland-costumed actors as the centerpieces. The Scene Teens from the After School Matters Culinary Arts Program at Bethlehem Lutheran Church served 700 cookies and cakes they made in the spirit of the evening’s theme. A separate tent was transformed into a Rivers Casino featuring roulette, craps and a silent auction. Entertainment included music by Dr. Bombay and a theatrical performance by Redmoon Theater. Later, DJ Rock City got guests on the dance floor and ready for a celebrity DJ set by Pete Wentz. Cover band South of 80 closed the night with the help of Ryan Chiaverini (co-emcee with Val Warner) who chimed in on the final song, “Sweet Home Alabama.” Photography by Francis Son
