Affairs With Linda: Wedding Day You've Dreamed Of

Tell us a little bit about how you entered the wedding consulting world?

As a women-owned business, I launched Affairs With Linda over 36 years ago. I came up through the trenches when the wedding consulting industry was still predominately run by men and gained my footing when I realized I could connect in a linear way with real brides and provide savvy business sense to all couples. I guess I would say I found my nirvana.

What makes Affairs With Linda stand out or different from other?

My extensive experience and years of expert knowledge make me most valuable over most of the planners. I guess you could say it is the OG effect. I listen and do not tell clients what to do, but rather help to steer them in the right direction. Most importantly, I help manage their budget, dissecting all proposals so that they are receiving the best value for their money; and lastly I make sure that the entire process is seamless from beginning to the end. I have the chops to make it happen.

When is it the best time for couples to book your services?

Couples can book me anywhere from a week prior or up to 2 or 3 years prior to their wedding date. My relationships with vendors are open and welcoming; I can usually get projects completed on short notice, although it is advisable to give enough breathing room for requests and not always work under tight deadlines. I work with all levels of vendors from the highest price point to those that are more affordable.

What is your key advice to have the best wedding planning experience?

My best wedding day advice is to let go - let the professionals do their jobs and have confidence in what they do. I am onsite several hours prior to the ceremony and the rest of the evening or day. Rarely does something get by me and if there is a problem, you will not know that night and possibly ever. I have handled many difficult situations over the years and am known to be low-key but very strong in my ability to handle everything. The most gratifying thing is at the end of the night, when the bride and groom (and even the parents and vendors) come to me and hug me and tell me it was more than perfect.

Why do you love what you do?

My career has become generational. My proudest achievement is when I have repeat clients beginning from Bar/Bat Mitzvahs or birthdays and then am asked to plan their weddings and then their kids' Bar/Bat Mitzvahs and birthdays too. I love that I cater to a broad clientele from CEOs of large companies, mayoral events, celebrity parties, weddings and just everyday people; and most importantly, I make sure they are all given the VIP treatment.
