THE PARTY More than 500 guests put on their most extravagant apparel and joined the SAIC at Chase Promenade in Millennium Park for The Walk, the school’s annual benefit gala, which raised more than $500,000. THE SCENE Guests posed for red carpet snapshots and mingled at a cocktail reception before enjoying a runway show featuring cutting-edge looks from SAIC students. The celebration then moved to the rooftop terrace of the Harris Theater, where revelers enjoyed a unique assortment of fashion-inspired foods like sweet pea ravioli “purses,” “clothespin” tacos and designer desserts. THE HIGHLIGHTS “I don’t think you ever stop being a student and tonight is about the students,” said Kate Mulleavy of Rodarte when accepting the Legend of Fashion Award alongside her sister Laura. “We really wanted to thank Ikram [Goldman] tonight—we wouldn’t be here without her. In this job there are a lot of highs and lows, and she always pushes you to be your most creative, your most artistic. That’s what I think the school is doing, and we’re so excited for all the students.” Photography by Bob Carl and Sara Condo
