Art Smart

| April 7, 2014 | Parties National

The Park Hyatt Chicago invited a small group of friends and members of the artistic community for an exclusive reception celebrating the unveiling of a new artwork in the hotel lobby. As they sipped wine and sampled savory passed bites, guests speculated what piece of art could be hidden behind the curtain. After welcoming remarks from Hyatt’s Executive Chairman Tom Pritzker and CEO Mark Hoplamazian, the mystery was solved with a dramatic curtain drop: “Tropicana/Channel,” a piece from famed contemporary artist Robert Rauschenberg’s rarely seen Cardboards and Related Pieces series, which will remain on display through the summer. –Photos by James Atkins
