Chicagoans helped to break fundraising records at Aspire’s Big City Night gala.
THE PARTY Channeling the Jazz Age, local nonprofit Aspire brought some old-school glamour to the ballroom of the Palmer House Hilton as part of the 20th annual Big City Night gala. There was no shortage of feathers and sequins as partygoers enjoyed an evening of drinks, dinner and dancing to big-band hits. THE PEOPLE NBC5 Investigates’ Lisa Parker led the evening’s festivities as emcee. Aspire CEO Jim Kales helped to present the 2018 Advocate for Inclusion award to Orrin Huebner, the district general manager of Canteen Vending. THE PINNACLE After dinner, guests enjoyed late-night treats and grooved to the tunes of DJ Sasha Savic at the coyly named Bootlegger’s Ball afterparty. Ultimately, it was the Paddles for Purpose fundraising effort that was the most spirited moment of the evening, with partygoers helping to raise more than $350,000, breaking the group’s fundraising record, to support Aspire’s programming for children and adults with developmental disabilities. -Jaclyn Jermyn
