“Uncommon Closet expertly altered my mom’s wedding dress into the shirt I wore on our wedding day,” B says. “It was one of my favorite details of the day”
THE COUPLE Lindsey Harris loves outer space, so when B Trewin proposed, it was in a designated dark sky park under the stars. “I hadn’t completely thought it through,” B remembers, laughing, “because when I did propose, we could hardly see each other or the ring.” Lindsey reciprocated with a proposal of her own in Mexico six months later.
THE DETAILS During the ceremony, THE COUPLE combined soil from their family homes in a unity ceremony and exchanged personalized vows. “We asked guests to wear pronoun pins and made the restrooms gender neutral,” B says. “We decided to create a space that is closer to how we want the world to be.”
THE PARTY Dinner was an urban barbecue: lavender buttermilk fried chicken, root beer pulled pork and blue cheese apple slaw. Guests bounced between a game room, dance floor and photo booth and enjoyed gourmet jello shots. Both B and Lindsey’s favorite moment was their first dance to “Of All the Dreams” by The Wild Reeds. “We were so nervous,” Lindsey says. “We took dance lessons for a few weeks prior, and were really proud to show off the hard work we had put in!” –EC
Colored glass goblets glowed on bare wood farm tables lined with runners of greenery.
“Ahead of the wedding, we asked people to practice asking for people’s pronouns and sharing their own,” B says. They encouraged guests to pick up a pronoun pin on their way into the ceremony
Lindsey’s bouquet featured white lisianthus, white and black anemones, champagne roses, peach ranunculus and more
Instead of a bouquet or boutonniere, B opted for a floral sash
