Head to Lincoln Park to check out Los Angeles-based essentials brand Buck Mason’s first Chicago store. It opened on Saturday, March 4 and features a relaxed, coastal interior. The brand creates high-quality basics, designed to have a timeless style and a comfortable lived-in feel. Buck Mason is most known for its T-shirts, raved about online for having a flatteringly-proportional cut and a superb texture.
Buck Mason sells elevated basics for both men and women. While they rose to fame with their men’s T-shirts, the brand has carried its signature materials and careful craftsmanship into a full range of cool, very wearable apparel for women and men, including suiting, jackets, pants, sweats, and impeccable jeans.

Buck Mason was founded in 2013 by Venice Beach neighbors Sasha Koehn and Erik Allen Ford. Before any brick-and-mortar stores, they started in a small garage and sold their goods online. Ford was “obsessed” with quality and the pair began by working with a local family factory to create small batches of their first collection, which consisted of jeans and T-shirts.
From there, Buck Mason committed to using only the highest quality fabrics, made with none of the synthetic chemicals or additives that are used in most fast fashion garments, according to their website. Instead, they source fine cotton from scrupulous farmers in the United States and create their own textiles.
“We knit all our own fabrics, ensuring quality all the way back to the yarn,” says the brand’s website.
While this time-intensive process makes the garments a bit more expensive, it also makes the clothing far more durable, and the textiles are intended to soften and relax with each wash. Buck Mason knits many of its textiles in the US, check out its full made-in-America collection here.
Buck Mason’s Chicago location marks the 23rd brick-and-mortar storefront for the brand, with locations scattered in major cities throughout the country.
"Chicago has shown us so much love online and has become one of our most important markets. We are excited to finally be able to provide Chicagoans the full brand experience with our first brick-and-mortar in the area,” says Buck Mason co-founder Erik Allen Ford.
The store itself features neutral tones and coastal influences. It has the coziness and breezy style of a Santa Monica beach house.
"Lincoln Park feels like the perfect neighborhood for us and we can’t wait for everyone to see and wear Buck Mason in person. We are grateful that we were able to find a great space with a rich history and look forward to becoming a positive addition to the community,” says Buck Mason co-founder Sasha Koehn.
Buck Mason is located at 854 W. Armitage Avenue.
