The CD Peacock Mansion at Oakbrook Center
With a storied history dating back to the Great Chicago Fire and the World’s Columbian Exhibition, CD Peacock has remained a fixture in the luxury scene since 1837. Now, Chicago’s oldest existing business has introduced one of the country’s largest jewelry and watch stores, The CD Peacock Mansion at Oakbrook Center, which features new guest experiences, a bridal salon, an in-house jewelry designer, exclusive pieces, event spaces, a bar and more.
“We know that generations of Chicagoans have shared historic moments with CD Peacock since 1837, which is why we have focused our storytelling around the notion of ‘making history,’” says Steven Holtzman, vice chairman of CD Peacock. “We are revolutionizing the way clients shop for watches and jewelry by changing the face of luxury retail with a Chicago twist.”

With a serpentine glass facade inspired by lenticular cloud formations, the 20,000-square-foot flagship store features the two-story Rolex shop-in-shop, the Cartier Espace, the Chanel shop-in-shop, the Omega and Tudor boutiques, and lavish custom furnishings, contemporary open spaces, tasteful music, refined floral scents, organic forms and rich textiles.
With the strikingly designed new boutique, Holtzman is aiming to reimagine the typical shopping experience, engage the five senses and infuse the storefront with intimate areas of comfort like luxe seating, private and semi-private rooms, a bridal salon, a bridesmaid room and a proposal room.

“The inspiration for building this space came from my years of travels visiting the best and most luxurious galleries and retail shops in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Once you realize what is possible, the options are endless,” Holtzman says. “Visiting all these markets, I was able to draw the best from each and bring it to Chicago.”
Among the offerings exclusive to The Mansion are a collection of Chicago-made Horween leather straps and more than 1,500 customizable watch straps. Guests can select the color, thread, embossment and material of their timepiece, with options like alligator, crocodile, kangaroo, calf leather and suede. A curated second-level horological library provides visitors with insider intel on the science, history, and art behind luxury timepiece craftsmanship.

Guests can visit The Mansion’s full-service, circular bar for cocktails, mocktails and flavored lemonades with names inspired by gemstones and CD Peacock history. The storefront also features a commercial kitchen for exclusive culinary experiences, charity functions and private events.
Holtzman says, “We continue to innovate and evolve, having celebrated milestones, birthdays, and engagements with our clients over 187 years. As the first registered business in Chicago and Illinois, we embody innovation and community involvement.”
