C'est La Vie

| June 6, 2016 | Parties

THE PARTY Chicago art enthusiasts made their way to the 900 North Michigan Shops for the opening of E La Vita / Es La Vida (It’s Life) at Artspace 8, a 14,000-square-foot gallery specializing in contemporary fine art works from established local and international artists. THE PEOPLE Large-scale abstracts by Venezuelan-born, Chicago-based artist and co-owner of Artspace 8 Fidel Rodriguez, and figurative paintings by Italian artist Silvio Porzionato, were on display as the crowd celebrated with wine and prosecco from Felix Lady Imports. THE PINNACLE The room was abuzz with talk of Porzionato’s photorealistic portraits—reminiscent of renowned artist Chuck Close—while Rodriguez mixed and mingled with guests to share thoughts on his own uncannily elegant abstract canvases that represent spiritual transformation and universal patterns found in nature. All in all, the evening proved to be a masterpiece. –Photos by Sam Lee
