Cape Cod has always held special meaning for Liz Brodette, who grew up visiting for annual family vacations. In 2022, she brought along her fiancé, Danny Slevin, whom she’d met at River North nightclub Tao a year earlier. “We found ourselves at Wychmere Beach Club and as luck would have it, we stumbled upon an impromptu tour of the venue,” Liz remembers. “Before we knew it, we had signed the contract for our own wedding on the spot.” They were taken with the breathtaking ocean views, elegant space and delectable seafood.
The couple leaned into the East Coast vibe for everything from decor—blues and neutral tones—to food: There were mini lobster rolls and two walking raw bars with freshly shucked local oysters and littleneck clams. (The bride’s sister, Indianapolis-based event planner and designer Rachael Bruzas, handled all the details and design.)
Following a stunning beachside ceremony, bagpipers played guests into the rooftop cocktail hour, then the party really got going. Liz changed into a sparkling jumpsuit after dinner to set the tone. “The band was absolutely stellar; they brought coordinated dance moves and won everyone over,” she says. “Our family and friends, known for their wild and fun-loving spirits, didn’t disappoint as they danced the night away.”
