The Party
The University of Chicago’s Cancer Research Foundation Women’s Board, along with Ralph Lauren and luxury jeweler Verdura, hosted the 48th Annual Grand Auction Gala, The Booth One Ball, at the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago.
The People
The theme of this year’s ball—which honored the university’s contributors for their continuous support in the battle against cancer—treated guests to an ambience inspired by the glamorous ’50s in Chicago, when the Pump Room’s Booth One was the most coveted seat in the city, favored by famous icons like Frank Sinatra and Natalie Wood. Back in 2011, when the restaurant was renovated, everything changed except for the legendary prime seats.
Best in Show
From an intricate 18K gold Curb-Link bracelet from Verdura to a shopping spree and tickets to the Ralph Lauren 2015 fall runway show, silent and live auction prizes enticed guests to bet big and help support cancer research. After the auction, the celebration continued with a candlelit dinner and, later, partygoers danced to the music of the Bill Pollack Orchestra. With more than $1 million raised for cancer research at the University of Chicago’s Comprehensive Cancer Center, the evening was a smashing success. –Photos by Cheri Eisenberg, Dan Rest, Brian Carey and Beking Joassaint
