Chicago Voices Gala Benefit

| May 9, 2017 | Parties

Chicago Voices Gala Benefit partygoers packed the house for one night only to celebrate the city’s diverse vocal music heritage.

The Civic Opera House was buzzing at the annual Chicago Voices Gala Benefit, hosted by Lyric Opera of Chicago’s Women’s Board and board of directors. More than 500 guests enjoyed an exquisite dinner and cocktail reception by Calihan Catering before attending the multigenre concert and afterparty. The concert, curated by Artistic Director and opera star RenĂ©e Fleming, included a wide range of vocalists, like jazz artist Kurt Elling, folk singer John Prine, rapper Lupe Fiasco and others. The Voices of Trinity Mass Choir also made an appearance with a showstopping performance. Civil rights activist and founder of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition Rev. Jesse L. Jackson Sr. served as special guest presenter along with Kate Flannery from NBC’s The Office, and Terrence Howard and Jussie Smollett from Fox’s Empire. The night raised more than $2 million for Lyric Opera’s productions, ensuring more magical evenings to come.
