A stunning newlywed portrait.
THE COUPLE They met watching a postseason Cubs game, so it only made sense that Colin Hopkinson propose to Christina Robertson on Wrigley Field, getting down on one knee during the last stop of a stadium tour in May 2019. “It was so special because I’m a diehard Cubs fan,” Christina says.
THE DETAILS“We didn’t want traditional wedding decor,” Christina says. So, they melded inspiration from her Cuban heritage and their mutual love of The Great Gatsby into a chic Havana Nights theme for their reception, featuring tropical colors and art deco accents. Hot pink ranunculus, ginger and monstera leaves exploded in centerpieces adorned with gold fans, and table linens presented a rainbow of bold hues.
THE PARTY“Our guests were literally on the dance floor the entire night,” Christina says. Late-night snacks were served on Chicago flag trays, and their wedding journey came full circle with one more nod to the Cubs: In lieu of favors, THE COUPLE made donations in their guests’ honor to Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital and the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation.”
The reception space
The cake was marble with hazelnut filling and buttercream frosting.
“The ceremony took place as the sun was setting on the Field Museum’s outside terrace,” Christina says. “It has one of the best views in the city.”
