THE PARTY The International Beethoven Project hosted a kickoff celebration for the third annual Beethoven Festival. Guests gathered at Open Secret Studios for cocktails and performances from violinists Eugene Kaler and Violetta Todorova, flutist Gaby Vargas and dancers from Ballet Chicago. THE BOTTOM LINE The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation announced a $100,000 challenge grant—the largest matching grant the foundation has made for a performing arts organization—and the evening raised an initial $40,000 toward that goal.
