At long last, Chicago finally has its own Coach boutique and it’s far from boring. Make your way over to the River North neighborhood to explore this unique iteration of the classic American brand’s Coach Play Chicago boutique.
This shop is the first in a new series from Coach, where shoppers are invited to ‘play’ in Coach-curated spaces designed to reflect the distinctive culture and history of its city.
In the River North location, find elements of Chicagoan history displayed throughout, as well as street signs, a baseball glove art installation, and marquee signs that are updated frequently, adding to that local feel. The space itself features architectural elements reminiscent of the brand’s New York City heritage.

Distinctive to the Coach Play Chicago shop, explore Coach Create, a notable customization process where local artists host workshops within the store to inspire shoppers with new ways to personalize their bags and accessories. Shoppers are able to create one-of-a-kind pieces that are guided by the aesthetic and techniques of expert artists, perfect for those who want to create but appreciate a bit of guidance. The craftsmanship bar will allow shoppers to personalize their bags with monograms, digital prints, embellishments, and patches and pins that are special to Chicago’s location.
Elsewhere throughout the shop, find the brand’s latest ready-to-wear collections integrated beautifully and nonchalantly with bags, accessories, and without relation to gender.
The interior of the store features cheerfully-colored accent walls and a selection of vintage and sustainably-made furniture, perfect for modeling and staging your #ootd snaps, clad with Coach goodies of course.
Find unique mirrors sustainably crafted by design studio Skilset and special accent chairs crafted from repurposed leather waste by artist Elise McMahon. The use of real artists for these commissions further shows Coach’s community-focused vibes of the store.
Each Coach Play location is set to be entirely different, and feature bespoke elements that are reflective of its community and its history. The series of shops aim to focus on celebrating community, environmental consciousness and clothes that make you feel confident, according to the brand’s press release.
Coach first started in 1941 in New York and has since evolved into a global fashion house. The brand prides itself on crafting quality bags, accessories, and garments that are made to last and evoke a timeless look.
Head down to River North to explore the shop’s latest arrivals, its impressive customization bar, and its Insta-worthy setup.
