THE PARTY The Costume Council of the Chicago History Museum presented an exclusive preview of the Charles James: Genius Deconstructed exhibition, as well as honored one of today’s most acclaimed international couturiers. Helen Harvey Mills served as the event’s Honorary Chair, with Co-Chairs Robin Loewenberg Berger, Catherine Eberle, and Lawrie Weed. THE HIGHLIGHTS Guests started the night out with cocktails and the Exhibition Preview, followed soon thereafter by the presentation of this year’s Award for Design Excellence to Mr. Rucci of Chado Ralph Rucci. The spectacular evening wore on with dinner and dancing to music by DJ Kiss, as well as the chance to bid on Exclusive Auction prizes such as a trip to New York Fashion Week and the chance to leave the party with a highly sought after, exquisite gift; an orange Hermes Birkin or a diamond necklace from Pomellato. THE BOTTOM LINE The gala celebrated the work of the fashion icon, Charles James, often credited as being America's first couturier. The collection will be at the museum through April 16‚ 2012.
