Dance Party

| July 1, 2013 | Parties National

THE PARTY Nearly 200 friends, supporters and fans of Thodos Dance Chicago gathered at the Chicago Cultural Center for the dance company’s 21 Club-themed gala. The event payed homage to the Prohibition era when only insiders with a password could enjoy cocktails and cabaret at the underground New York City speakeasy. THE HIGHLIGHTS Guests enjoyed an evening filled with entertainment and culture—cabaret by Tommy Hensel and Dan Stetzel, a wine roulette wheel, a live performance by the Thodos Dance Chicago Youth Ensemble and an exclusive sneak peek at Ann Reinking and Melissa Thodos’ newest project, A Light in the Dark, The Story of Helen Keller and Anne Sullivan. Party goers danced late into the night to the music of Swing Assembly. NBC2 anchor and longtime Thodos Dance supporter Kim Vatis chaired the 21 Club host committee to help plan the speakeasy themed event. THE BOTTOM LINE The gala raised nearly $70,000 to benefit the organization’s mission to inspire expression in young people through contemporary dance education, creation and performance.
