Dancing With the Czars

| April 6, 2012 | Parties

THE PARTY Lyric Opera of Chicago’s Guild Board of Directors hosted its 28th annual Fantasy of the Opera gala fundraiser, A Night Under the Czars, at the Civic Opera House. Event Creative brought the theme to life with FabergĂ© egg-inspired ice sculptures, wintry blue lighting and frosty chandeliers, which lined the tables dressed by BBJ Linen. THE PLAYERS The fantasy became a reality thanks to the work of Nancy Temple, Courtney Rosen, Julie Anne Benson, Allison Alexander and David T. Ormesher, who brought together more than 500 guests and raised more than $470,000 to support the world-renowned opera company. THE SCENE The black-tie event featured a raffle and silent auction, specialty Moscow Mule cocktails and Veuve Clicquot Champagne, hors d’oeuvres prepared by some of Chicago’s top chefs, and a cabaret performance by Lyric Opera stars and students. Following the show, guests enjoyed a seated dinner by Limelight Catering and sampled Sprinkles Cupcakes, Blommer Chocolate Company and E.leaven Food Company desserts. To top off the night, everyone kicked up their heels to the sounds of Arlen Music’s Indigo. Photography by Dan Rest and Eric Craig
