The Party
A memorable black-tie bash feted a banner year for the Children’s Research Fund, which raised an astounding $2.7 million for pediatric medical research. The Hilton Chicago played host to the annual Children’s Ball—themed Big Dreams, Bright Futures—which honored the work of physicians and researchers at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and celebrated the bright futures of children made possible through their work.
The People
Over 1,100 guests—a record crowd—were hosted by co-chairs Roxanne and Rocco Martino, and Justin and Angela Dearborn. Perhaps the most memorable appearance, however, was via video: A father told the story of his young daughter’s participation in a clinical trial that transformed her life.
Best in Show
The 18-piece Ken Arlen Evolution Orchestra kept the night lively with pop classics and current hits while guests enjoyed an evening filled with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and dinner before partaking in an energetic live luxury auction. The real excitement, however, came during a spirited paddle raise that collected an impressive $326,000 for the cause in just 15 minutes. Fast money, for a good cause. –Photos by Ben Swislow of Diamond Event Group
