What is your best advice for engaged couples? It is very easy to get overwhelmed when you are wedding planning. To help narrow things down a little more, don't give yourself too many options. When shopping for vendors pick 2 you would like to narrow it down between instead of 10. Try to make your decision quickly and move on instead of mulling over it and agonizing over it. Once that task is done CROSS IT OFF and move on to the next one! That will keep the process moving along as easy as possible.
What is the most gratifying part of your business? Right now as I cultivate my team, it is most gratifying when I see every system and employee working together seamlessly. When each member of the team successfully completes their tasks for the day and works together to create beautiful and delicious art, I am so proud and satisfied. I am also really enjoying redecorating my cake studio!
What three words describe you or your business best? Bold, Approachable, Indulgent
What is something you constantly strive for? I am constantly trying to put our best foot forward. When it comes to our product, I want to make sure we are giving our customers the highest quality product and service. When it comes to our message on social media I am trying to connect and engage with our audience, when it comes to our brand I am trying to convey the right message- one of vibrance, pleasure, joy, and luxury! I am constantly trying to make sure everything we are doing as a company and brand is conveying these things. Is our customer service excellent? Is our ordering process intuitive and efficient? Are our recipes exquisit? If it is not done well, what is the point in doing it? I am constantly striving for excellence.
What big news do you want to share? Our biggest news this year is that ECBG has finally found a permanent space to call home! In the middle of the chaos that was the 2021 wedding season, we quietly moved across town to a beautiful cake studio in West town and we are SOOO happy and excited to get settled in!
What do you think is essential for any wedding? SO MUCH SUPPORT. I planned a wedding myself this year, and I had SO much help. Not only did we hire a wedding planner-( Tionna with Wedicity - Wed-icity.com) I also had a ton of help from my Husband, Maids of Honor, Mom, and Mother in Law. Especially because I was also running a business, going through the bakery purchase, and navigating this crazy year, I had very little time to devote to wedding planning. This is why the right vendors (and support system) are SO VALUABLE! Our first decision was hiring a wedding planner, and I am so glad we did.
How far in advance should couples book your business? We love to tell people at least 3-6 months out. We book up!
What is your favorite trend for weddings currently? We recently highlighted the ruffle trend in a cake photo shoot and I am LOVING it! Lots and lots of cascading tiers of ruffles.
Tell us what makes your business different from other wedding companies? I am very good at relating to our wedding clients. As someone who just got married, and someone who stalks cake trends on pinterest, I have a good eye for what people are looking for. I know exactly what our ideal client wants and I know exactly who they are! I LOVE them! I love working with them and am really able to connect with them on a deeper level. Plus I am pretty personal. I love people and networking is one of my favorite parts.
Who inspires you? As I am working on growing my business, reaching more people, having a bigger impact, and becoming more visible, I really look up to female entrepreneurs who have scaled their businesses. People like Sara Blakely who have developed huge brands, and also give a lot to charity and community outreach. People who value female empowerment and fight for marginalized groups. People who have creative solutions and people who make beautiful art. People who make us feel something and question norms. People who are authentically themselves and people who practice radical self love. Brands that exemplify diversity. Those who lead with love, humor, color, spirituality, hope, and joy. When inspiration hits you, it can be unexpected and sudden, and there's no stopping the gifts it can give you!
