The Swedish tradition fika is all about taking time out of your day relax and recharge with friends or family over coffee and a sweet treat. From February 9-11, Chicagoans can indulge in the beloved Scandinavian tradition at Fika Fest, a weekend-long celebration of Swedish culture, food and traditions, in Andersonville.
Start the weekend off on Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Coffee and Hot Cocoa crawl, where you can traverse Andersonville and cozy up with friends in the neighborhood’s best spots for coffee and pastries. Participants can choose from two different routes and will receive a special-edition mug. For more information on the crawl, click here.
Following the crawl, attend the fourth annual Great Andersonville Puzzle Exchange on Sunday, from 11 a.m to 3 p.m. at the Swedish American Museum. All ages are encouraged to drop off new or lightly used puzzles (any size for children, 500+ pieces for adults) in plastic bags from 11-11:30 a.m. and swap it for another one. Puzzle aficionados can also take part in the Great Andersonville Puzzle Throw Down, where the fastest puzzler takes home a prize. For more information, click here.
