THE SCENE Fashion Focus Chicago kicked off its seventh annual fashion week with Champagne and cocktails at Public Chicago. Hosted by the Mayor’s Fashion Council, the evening toasted the designers and headlining runway show partners. THE PARTY During the week-long celebration, more than 35,000 attendees, including Billy Zane, Richard Marx and Project Runway Season 3 winner Jeffrey Sebelia, turned out for the nearly 40 events throughout the city. THE BOTTOM LINE Presented by Macy’s, The Designers of the Chicago Fashion Incubator runway show was one of four headliners in Millennium Park (others included InspireDesign, presented by Mario Tricoci and Vitaminwater; Vert Couture Eco-Fashion Show & Benefit; and The Art of Fashion 2011). The 2011 Chicago Fashion Incubator designers-in-residence showcased their spring 2012 collections; styles by Concetta Cipriano, Shavonne Dorsey, Eric Kipp, Kahindo Mateene, Taneasha Prunty and Crystal B. Simms wowed front-row fashionistas. Alumni Anna Hovet, Miriam Cecilia Carlson, Agga B. Raya and others also sent designs down the catwalk. Photos by Patrick L.
