THE PARTY The Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras’ annual gala welcomed 300 guests and raised $250,000 for the CYSO music training and education programs. Held at the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago, the event was a Beatles-inspired evening of fine dining and music, including CYSO renditions of Beatles classics such as “Eleanor Rigby” and “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds.” THE PLAYERS Mayor Rahm Emanuel, former CYSO President Hollis Hudak and Nan Zhou, president of American Strings, were honored with the 2013 Note of Excellence Awards. THE BOTTOM LINE Gala co-chairs Tony and Denise Pondel helped create what CYSO board chair Gary Burns called the organization’s most successful gala. Photos by Tina Smothers Photography
