If you enjoyed the touring trip through Van Gogh’s paintings on a macro-scale, you might want to mark your calendar.
From the producers of Immersive Van Gogh comes Frida: Immersive Dream, a new exhibit that puts you right in the colorful world of the Mexican painter, portrait artist and surrealist icon, Frida Kahlo.
Covering 500,000 cubic-feet of space, sparking in 90,000,000 pixels and encompassing 1,200,000 frames of video, Frida: Immersive Dream is set to hit art audiences across Chicago, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Denver and Toronto in early 2022.

Just as with the Van Gogh progenitor, the Kahlo celebration will surround viewers in a 360-degree video presentation that explores the artist’s life and career through each individual brush stroke, taking a closer and enlarged look at some of her most famous works and self-portraits.
All will be set to a musical score that compliments and accentuates the passionate power of Kahlo’s visual poetry.
Kahlo was born in Mexico City and 1907 and died in her hometown some 47 years later. Though her time on this Earth was short, her impact was massive, helping to push the surrealist and magical realist movements. Her work blends Mexican folk art with the country's pop culture, and she often painted about her experience with chronic personal and physical pain.
Her alluring series of self-portraits continues to inspire generations, and her place as a feminist is as important today as it was during her time. A recent sale of her famous piece “Diego y yo” (“Diego and I”) fetched $35 million at Sotheby’s auction. The painting a crying depicts Kahlo with an image of her husband, famed painter and muralist Diego Rivera, on her forehead. It’s a prime example of her surrealist work and her self-portraits.
No doubt a trans-national exhibit on the scale of Frida: Immersive Dream will popularize Kahlo’s work with a younger generation of budding artists, collectors and enthusiasts.
