In A Galaxy Not So Far Away

| October 31, 2012 | Parties

The Party The Women’s Board of the Adler Planetarium held its annual black-tie Celestial Ball, and as more than 600 guests enjoyed cocktails on the terrace overlooking the sky above Lake Michigan, The Milky Way seemed like a fitting theme. The Scene A seated dinner ended on a sweet note with a Three Ways Milky Way chocolate plate for a dessert. An auction sponsored by Graff Diamonds featured exclusive items like international vacation packages, an Apollo XIII patch from former astronaut Captain James Lovell Jr., and, the highlight of the evening, an adorable silver labrador retriever puppy named Luna. The Bottom Line Chair Erika Bartelstein, co-chairs Donna More and Laura Myntti, and auction chair Meg Sauer helped raise more than $1.2 million, making this one of the planetarium’s most successful events.
