What is your best advice for engaged couples?
Planning a wedding is overwhelming! Unsolicited advice is coming in from every angle, there are a million decisions to make and of course there’s pressure from parents to include their whole guest list. Take a breath, look at your partner and remember this is a party and it’s about having fun. With that as an intention, planning becomes very streamlined.
What is something you constantly strive for?
Making beautiful images that authentically capture our clients and their connection to each other. Laughing, being silly, enjoying life. Having fun with friends and family. Its that side look a groom gives his spouse when they are sitting together at dinner- the look that says- I have the most stunning partner, how am I so lucky? Capturing that is what gives us so much joy.
What is your favorite trend for weddings currently?
Color is back! Bright florals and fun colors. Also we have been loving all the unconventional wedding dresses we’ve been seeing in the last year.
What is the most gratifying part of your business?
Our clients. We are truly grateful for our clients. We have clients that have become friends. Clients who we photograph all the milestones in their lives- birthdays, fur babies, two legged babies, and now, after more than two decades, mitzvahs and graduations. We want to be your photographers for life. Not just on this one day.
What do you think is essential for any wedding?
The most essential thing to a great wedding is an attitude that you’ll have fun no matter what. I did a wedding where everyone was evacuated out of a venue because of a gas leak into pouring rain until the fire department could clear the building. By the time they finally did make it back inside, everyone was soaking wet. The couple could have been crushed - instead that was one of the wildest parties I’d ever done because everyone they had the attitude that they were going to have a great time. In almost two decades I haven’t seen a force powerful enough to stop people determined to enjoy their wedding day.
