On September 12, 2018, Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana (GSGCNWI) highlighted the endeavors of several female chefs and culinary entrepreneurs in the Chicagoland food scene. The event was an opportunity to engage with the chefs and their Girl Scout Sous Chefs, who served their signature bites, to support the Girl Scout mission.
Emceed by Jocelyn Delk Adams, the engaging baker, author and founder of Grandbaby Cakes, Smart Cookies: Chefs Above the Rest was held at the newly-opened event space Gallery 1500 in Lincoln Park’s NEWCITY. The honorees of the evening included: Diana Dávila, Chef & Owner, Mi Tocaya Antojería, Nicole Hamilton, Owner & Caterer, Simply Sweetness Food Design Ellen King, Co-Owner & Head Baker, Hewn Bakery, Emily Nejad, Owner, Bon Vivant Cakes, Anna Posey, Pastry Chef & Co-Owner, Elske Restaurant and Elaina Vazquez, Founder & CEO, Boutique Bites.
With more than 200 guests present the event brought the Girl Scout mission to life, while bringing together new and existing supporters who saw firsthand the impact Girl Scouting has on the lives of local girls.
