Go Ahead, Wine About It

| December 1, 2011 | Parties

THE SCENE Millennium Park was packed for another year of the Chicago Gourmet festival. Presented by Bon Appétit, the two-day culinary experience featured more than 300 wineries, 65 spirits and 100 of Chicago’s finest chefs and restaurants. THE TASTINGS Upon arrival, guests received a wine glass, small plate and event tote (which by the end, was undoubtedly filled with samples of Vosges chocolate). Top chefs were booked back-to-back for live cooking demonstrations, book signings and tasting pavilions: The roster included Rick Bayless, Ted Allen, Rick Tramonto, Tony Mantuano, Mary Sue Milliken, Jonathan Waxman, Alpana Singh and Stephanie Izard. And there was no reason to have a glass half empty either, since the tented lawn was filled with sipping stations fit for all palates: Joel Gott, Francis Ford Coppola, Ferrari-Carano, Patrón Tequila, Belvedere Bloody Marys, Mionetto USA, Laurent-Perrier, Freixenet and, every once in a while, Fiji water.
