The Party
Chicago Gateway Green, the organization dedicated to beautifying the city’s expressways and communities, celebrated its 23rd Annual Green Tie Ball charity event with the extravagant theme of The Great Green Gatsby. More than 2,600 guests dressed in their 1920s best as they gathered at the UIC campus for an over-the-top evening.
The People
Guests shimmied the night away between tasty bites from more than 55 of Chicago’s top restaurants including Siena Tavern and Mercadito. Our favorite? Hands down the decadent raw oyster bar served up by Shaw’s Crab House. Revelers cooled their heels at the roulette or blackjack tables sponsored by Rivers Casino or in one of the glamorous VIP speak-easy lounges. A silent auction featured art pieces from Picasso, fine jewelry and lavish getaways fit for Mr. Gatsby himself.
Best in Show
The VIP reception ushered in guests on a green carpet, before they enjoyed bubbly on an outdoor lounge decked out with plush green furniture. What’s more: Partiers enjoyed tunes from a man who knows a thing or two about a good party—headlining DJ and Lollapalooza founder, Perry Farrell. -Photos courtesy of Matt Mansueto and Spectaculights
