Golden Goal

| April 8, 2016 | Parties National

Urban Initiatives welcomed guests to the elegantly industrial Morgan Manufacturing for its 10th annual Soccer Ball. While younger eventgoers kept energy high by playing small-sided soccer games, nearly 1,110 attendees mingled over cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.

The evening recognized civic frontrunners including Northbrook’s Hirshman family for their unprecedented volunteerism, and seventh-grader Lavell Butler was cheered for his excellence as team captain. “This was by far our largest and most successful Soccer Ball to date,” reports Julie Chelovich, the Soccer Ball’s executive producer.

The night ended in a big win for Urban Initiatives as they revealed that the night raised $600,000 to bolster its goal: providing Chicago’s at-risk youth with a nurturing environment in which to build character and adopt healthy lifestyles through sports. Now, that’s a winning goal! -Photography Courtesy of Urban Initiatives
