Great Society

| June 28, 2011 | Parties

The Party: The Chicago business community’s most active philanthropists turned out for a night of elegant revelry at the American Cancer Society’s fifth annual Discovery Ball at the Chicago Civic Opera House. The Players: The event was chaired by David Speer, CEO of Illinois Tool Works, Inc., and his wife Barbara. Academy Award-winning singer Randy Newman provided the entertainment while guests mingled and dined in Tuscan-themed environs. The Bottom Line: The beautiful and moving event raised more than $2.1 million for the American Cancer Society.
