Just when you thought there was no turning back from the athleisure trend, along comes a label like FROLOV to jolt fashionistas into dressing to the nines once more.

You won’t hear any complaints from Chicago fashion queen Ikram Goldman, who is thoroughly enchanted by designer Ivan Frolov’s vision.

“This is a very sexy, frothy, red-carpet kind of look,” explains Goldman, who is carrying the collection in her exclusive River North boutique for the first time. “Everyone wants to feel like a star, and he nails it: If you put on one of these dresses, [that’s how] you’re going to feel. And the beautiful colors he uses—the pinks, the yellows, even the tulle black with nude underpinnings—are gorgeous.”

The Kyiv-based designer’s garments also boast serious craftsmanship, notes Goldman. “This is old-school production,” she enthuses. “The bodices, the bustiers, the pleating… you don’t get that without having a profound sense of workmanship.” Noting the timelessness of FROLOV’s style, Goldman sums up, “There’s a glamour to this collection that everyone is craving—and in a world of so many different events and the freedom to wear whatever you want, you can wear them anywhere. These gowns will be forever in your wardrobe.” 15 E. Huron St.
