Tell us what makes your business different from other wedding companies?
“Chicago is incredibly lucky to have so many amazing foodservice companies for wedding catering. With a large list of trusted choices, we know it can be overwhelming for newly engaged couples to find the perfect fit. At Jewell Events Catering, we are incredibly proud of our 55 year history and ability to understand what clients really want for their special day - amazing food, exemplary service and the ability to make their celebration truly one of a kind. We absolutely love to customize menus and creative dining experiences that reflect the couple’s story and our team will never attempt to push a packaged wedding.”
How did you handle the pandemic? Did your business model change?
“As most can imagine, the pandemic was especially difficult for our business and the foodservice industry as a whole. As caterers who absolutely love weddings, it was heartbreaking to see celebrations postpone and cancel after couples had their hearts set on a particular vision. It was however, wonderful and inspiring to see how love and creativity can overcome any challenge. We helped couples safely celebrate though unique dining concepts from intimate at home or outdoor weddings with smaller guests counts to preparing and delivering gourmet boxed meals for virtual streaming weddings”.
What is your best advice for engaged couples?
“The best advice we can share as your caterer is to relax and allow yourselves to be in the moment. The time spent planning and preparing for the day is now in the rear view mirror and now is the time to celebrate with loved ones! Remember to enjoy the day together and not overanalyze the “small stuff”. Also, we want our couples to actually eat on their wedding day. We know there are lots of people to thank and tables to visit during service, but it is so important to refuel and enjoy the beautiful meal you helped design. We always will bring cocktails and hors d'oeuvres for the couple to privately sample and encourage taking time to enjoy your first meal together.”
Who inspires you?
“The inspiration for our entire company comes from our namesake, George L Jewell. As a legend in Chicago catering, the bar he has set for exceptional food and service is second to none. Each event we produce carries his incredible eye for detail and his passion for sophistication is embodied in the life of our brand. We are so proud of each wedding we have produced and look forward to continuing his legacy for many years to come.”
What is your favorite trend for weddings currently?
“Our favorite weddings to produce are celebrations which include personal touches as a way to incorporate the true personality of the couple. Our favorite trend right now is heritage cooking and ancestral menus. We love incorporating foods that are from family recipes that were passed on from generation to generation. Our chefs love to recreate these items that are rich in history and flavor! We mostly see this trend with inspired cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and desserts however our talented team can re-create any specialty recipe.”
