So, you’re obsessed with Issa Rae and you’re still sad Insecure is over. What if you could step out your front door right into Rae’s world?
Well, you can, because the award-winning actress, writer and producer is giving two very-lucky guests a romantic Valentine’s getaway in her own native south L.A., via Airbnb.
“I’m inviting guests to spend a weekend in my hometown to experience the culture, businesses and communities that influence my storytelling on screen,” Rae writes on the official Airbnb listing. “I can’t wait to show guests all the things that make Black LA so special firsthand.”
For $58 a night, Rae’s house becomes available for a one-time booking, Saturday to Monday, Feb. 12 to 14. Booking opens at 10 a.m. PT on Tuesday, Feb. 8, and the reservation will go on a first-come, first-served basis. This booking is not a content, and guests will be responsible for their own travel arrangements.
All that legal stuff being said, there is a lot for guests to look forward to. Rae will virtually greet the guests at check-in and feed the fortunate pair with a catered “Game Day” dinner for two, courtesy of Worldwide Tacos—because this also happens to be Super Bowl weekend, don’t you know?
Rae invites guests to explore her favorite landmarks in her South L.A. neighborhood, including Leimert Park, View Park, Inglewood and Baldwin Hills. She calls out Eso Won Books, My 2 Cents, Supervsn Studios, Gorilla Rx Wellness, Swift Cafe, All Chill, and Southern Girl Desserts as must-see places.
If Issa Dee can manage apartments, surely *eye* can manage an @Airbnb
She also invites guests to experience their own “me season” during their stay, indulging the couple with a Hilltop Coffee nook, panoramic views of downtown and the Hollywood Hills, Sienna Naturals hair care products to use and take home, and more.
Even if Rae wasn’t the beloved celebrity she is, the house is worth the trip. Ain’t nothing awkward about this black girl’s home. The mid-century modern pad is decorated with artwork by local Black artists Maya Iman, Vakseen, Domonique Brown and more. There’s a beautiful pool with plenty of chaise lounges and canopies in which to relax, and the friendly and contemporary design is super Instagrammable.
One thing to keep in mind; guests will have to adhere to local L.A. COVID-19 guidelines, but you will have a socially-distanced concierge on hand to help organize any sightseeing fun.
It all sounds incredibly lovely, but you should check the official listing yourself.
