At the annual Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Jean Banchet Awards, Chicago's most prominent culinary industry leaders came out to celebrate the city's best restaurants, chefs, sommeliers and mixologists. Winners included Fat Rice (Restaurant of the Year), The Blanchard (Best New Restaurant), Chris Pandel of B. Hospitality Co. (Chef of the Year) and Elizabeth Mendez of Vera (Best Sommelier). Chef Carrie Nahabedian of Naha and Brindille received the new Banchet Culinary Achievement Award. The evening began with Champagne and light bites prior to the awards ceremony. Afterwards, the 400 guests celebrated with an after-party that included signature dishes from Bar Toma, Antique Taco, Gibsons Steakhouse and more. The Jean Banchet Awards for Culinary Excellence is the only Chicago-based awards presentation that recognizes and rewards culinary originality and talent in the Chicagoland area.
