The inaugural JoffreyNEXT fundraiser, hosted by the Joffrey Ballet’s Women’s Board at the Lyric Opera House, celebrated the talent of Community Engagement students and the Grainger Academy. Guests enjoyed curated cocktails, gourmet bites and captivating performances that spotlighted the impressive potential of future dancers.
Led by board president Farissa Knox and co-chairs Anna Assenmacher and Kyoko Crawford, the event welcomed 215 attendees. Highlights included an inspiring conversation between The Mary B. Galvin Artistic Director Ashley Wheater MBE and choreographer Houston Thomas, who reflected on his journey from community student to professional choreographer.
The fundraiser raised $100,000 to support Joffrey’s educational programs, continuing to nurture young talent. Guests were treated to performances including “This Town,” “I Am Woman” and “For Mr. Ramsey Lewis” while also bidding on raffle prizes.
