It started with a Ferrari, and it ended with a Ferrari. On a trip to Tuscany to race, professional driver Cooper MacNeil and beau Katie Kearney—a model, content creator and golf host for NBC Sports Chicago—drove nearly three hours up the boot and discovered their dream wedding location at Lake Como’s Villa d’Este. “As soon as we arrived, we both knew there was no better place to have a wedding,” Katie recalls. “The scenery, location, food, service and ambience make it one-of-a-kind.”
It set the perfect scene for the bride’s fairytale-princess vision. “Our florist had also done the wedding of a prince here, and I saw their long white runway aisle with pink and white roses and hydrangeas, so we drew floral inspo from that,” she says. “After designing the ceremony setting, that’s when I chose my dress to fit the extravagant backdrop.” (But she couldn’t have just one: Katie wore not one or two but three stellar designer gowns from Gold Coast boutique Ultimate Bride.)
Every detail was Italian to a tee, from the wine sealing ceremony during their “I do’s”—an Italian tradition—to the homemade ricotta-filled tortelli plated at dinner. The Italian Tenors performed songs by Andrea Bocelli, fireworks exploded in the sky, and authentic Italian pizza and limoncello shots fueled a discotheque-themed afterparty until 4 a.m. And, true to form, the newlyweds made an epic getaway, riding off in a Ferrari Monza SP2 valued at a cool $3 million.
