The Party
The Women’s Board of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra blended music and gaiety with Remix IV: Shaken & Stirred, a fundraiser to benefit the CSO’s Citizen Musician activities.
The Scene
Along with global bites ranging from Moroccan tacos to Vietnamese spring rolls, the preconcert VIP celebration featured signature cocktails in honor of the evening’s main musical guest—Pink Martini, the so-called “little orchestra” based out of Portland—as well as a live auction including treasures like a rock star-esque trip to the 2015 Grammy Awards with accommodations at The Peninsula Beverly Hills, a weeklong Caribbean getaway to St. John’s and a VIP Caddyshack Charity Golf Tournament package hosted by Bill and Joel Murray.
The Highlights
Local attorney Bob Marshall noted that he’d been under the impression that the von Trapp family existed solely in The Sound of Music film, but a riveting performance by The von Trapps, great-grandchildren of the actual mountain-climbing musical family, left no doubt they are the real thing. Their stirring a cappella Brahms piece didn’t linger long, though: The post-concert party, which raised $75,000, included music from DJ Madrid and violinist Katarina Visnevska—and a conga line! –Photos by Bob Carl and Todd Rosenberg
