The newlyweds posed for a sophisticated portrait.
Dave Hunter and Kristie Daniels’ romance began with a chance encounter at a rooftop bar in Boston. “We spotted one another at different times throughout the evening,” Kristie recounts. Eventually, Dave’s friend made the introduction, after overhearing her tell a friend he was cute.
After three years of dating, Dave took the next leap by proposing in front of the Wrigley Building Christmas tree on Christmas Eve eve. “It was very special because Kristie loves winter and the holiday season, and it was actually the same day that her parents were engaged,” he recalls. The night continued with dinner at The Gage, a now yearly tradition for the duo.
Paying homage to where they first met, the couple married in Massachusetts at The Crane Estate; the venue was designed by Chicago architects, tying their current hometown into their destination wedding. With the Italian garden setting as inspiration, neutral tones were at the forefront of the serene scene. “We wanted to build off the natural beauty of the venue and so we kept it neutral, classical and elegant,” Kristie says. White flowers with hints of greenery and gold spearheaded the decor.
Guests sang and danced the night away to ’90s and 2000s pop-punk and alternative music (the groom’s favorite) and took home late-night takeaway food boxes aptly dubbed “Happily Ever After Meals.”
Guests raised their glasses in a toast.
Taking photos together after the ceremony provided a moment of calm.
Invitations were affixed with a golden wax seal.
“We wanted to complement the natural beauty of the space,” the bride says of their reception decor.
“For the ceremony, we brought in walnut Chiavari chairs to make sure the vibe felt formal throughout,” Kristie says.
Kristie walked down the aisle in the venue’s Italian garden.
