Interior designer Meghan Jay reveals the standout elements that defined her stylish renovation of the Pembroke Lodge pool house for the Lake Forest Showhouse.
With the April 26 kickoff of the Lake Forest Shophouse & Gardens, Evanston-based interior designer Meghan Jay (meghanjaydesign.com) is set to unveil her redesign of the historic Pembroke Lodge pool house, blending heritage with modern luxury. The 1925 David Adler home, once home to arts patron Gwethalyn Jones, now showcases vintage coastal aesthetics, Lumix marble, zellige tile and custom drapery from top vendors like The Fine Line and The Vale. Here, Jay reveals eight elements that inspired her vision for the space. Through May 25, 2025 Lake Forest Showhouse & Gardens, 500 N. Green Bay Road, Lake Forest
Regency Aperigon fabric in putty/geolu from Sanderson
“The moment I stepped into the space, I was instantly drawn to the arched ceiling—a showstopping architectural detail designed by the legendary Midwest architect David Adler. I knew right away that I wanted to emphasize this feature with dramatic, floor-to-ceiling draperies. The Sanderson stripe struck the perfect balance of preppy and refined, capturing exactly what I envisioned: a nod to my Connecticut roots while setting the scene for an effortlessly chic cocktail party. With its subtle sheen, the fabric catches the light beautifully—whether it’s the golden glow of the afternoon sun or the flicker of candlelight in the evening.” sanderson.sandersondesigngroup.com
Elizabeth Tape from The Vale London
“The Vale London’s latest trim collection is pure magic, and the Elizabeth Tape is no exception! It’s a true showstopper, which is why I made it a focal point of the space. The hand-embroidered pearls and beads bring an undeniable touch of opulence, adding just the right amount of shimmer and texture to the design.” thevalelondon.co.uk

Rohl Tenerife single handle bathroom faucet in antique gold
