The new Mira Couture showroom highlights the best looks in the biz.
On the verge of its 50th anniversary, luxury landmark Mira Couture made a big—if not far—move, expanding from cramped quarters on Delaware Place into a 5,000-square-foot showroom around the corner this spring. The timing is perfect for those gearing up for gala season: In addition to stocking her store with gorgeous designer inventory, owner and head designer Julie Mersine Romeli uses lush fabrics from Spain, Israel and France to create completely custom pieces, and has designed gowns worn at major galas from the PAWS Fur Ball to the American Heart Association’s annual fundraiser. “I love when there’s a theme or some inspiration from the event,” she says. “It’s so much more fun and challenging, and it makes it even more rewarding when we design the right dress.” 70 E.
