The Party
The Music Institute of Chicago hit the right note with its annual fundraising gala at the Four Seasons. Fans of the arts gathered at the hotel to celebrate music and help raise more than $1.15 million for the school’s scholarship program.
The Scene
The gifted students of MIC serenaded the crowd throughout the evening, bringing them to their feet more than once. After an elegant dinner featuring roast beef tenderloin and (our personal favorite) strawberry cheesecake sundae, guests bid in a lively auction that raised more than $130,000 in less than 10 minutes.
The Highlights
Famed pianist AndrĂ© Previn was awarded the Dushkin Award. The 10-time Grammy winner was moved by the honor and talked about his love for the academy in his acceptance speech: “I think it is unbeatable. I think it’s the best thing that can happen to a child.” –Photos by Robert F. Carl and Jennifer Girard
