Navy Pier hosted a festive soiree in celebration of the Chicago Shakespeare Theater and Willian “Bill” Brodsky, who was named Chair Emeritus by his successor, Jennifer Steans. Dubbed A Legacy ExPIERience, it was Navy Pier’s highest-attended gala as an independent nonprofit organization.
President and CEO Marilynn Gardner honored Brodsky and his legacy. Founding artistic director Barbara Gaines also spoke on behalf of the Chicago Shakespeare Theater and introduced the company’s new artistic director Edward Hall and executive director Kimberly Motes.
The evening, which raised more than $1.5 million to support cultural programming and sustain Navy Pier’s architectural and environmental legacy, was capped with an awe-inspiring drone show and fireworks.
