The Party
Celebrating the Lyric Opera of Chicago’s 60th anniversary, the institution’s Women’s Board hosted an opening-night gala worthy of an opera diva. Impeccably dressed guests walked the red carpet to the opulent Grand Foyer, which had been outfitted with elegant decor from HMR Designs, to mingle and toast the season opener, Mozart’s Don Giovanni, directed by Robert Falls.
The People
Former Mayor Richard M. Daley; Brittney Payton, host of Chicago’s Best; and all-star soprano RenĂ©e Fleming were among the opera lovers in attendance.
Best in Show
Guests perused the Don Giovanni: Past to Present exhibit, learning about the storied history of the show at the Lyric Opera (it was first performed there in 1954). Members of the women’s board and the board of directors had a private dinner in memory of Debby Jannotta, a longtime member and a former president of the women’s board, and after the show, the creative team and stars celebrated with guests in honor of opening night and the Lyric’s anniversary.
